Welcome and support
It matters little to us the nationality and religion of the migrants; we welcome them all with the same respect and enthusiasm. We are at their side to help them during this interminable ordeal of asylum applications.
The association currently supports 7 families: in Kernoües, Lesneven, Kerlouan, Plouider, Goulven and Brest in partnership with Digemer Brest . These families can come from countries experiencing war, dictatorship or violence, they come for example from Chechnya, Albania, Mongolia…
On the basis of a reception contract, the association supports them in several areas: accommodation, food, learning French, integration, health, legal aid for application for asylum, schooling of children.
Food recovery:
It's a lot of work for a dozen volunteers who, every two weeks, collect food from Leclerc du Folgoët and fresh vegetables from farms in Kerlouan, Tréflez, etc. They ensure the distribution in the families.
Thanks to a partnership set up by the association, the families supported benefit from parcels from the food bank and restos du cœur. The association's volunteers are responsible for driving families to these appointments.
Operation 100 for a roof
"100 for a roof" is a specific action to seek donations to find housing for a family.
We launched our “100 for 1 roof” for the first time in September 2020 for a family of 7 children who had been sleeping on the streets for ten days in Brest. Very quickly, we were able to shelter them, then little by little the donations arrived. Since March 2021, around forty donors have joined us and we can pay rent and utilities.
In concrete terms, how does that work ?
“100 for a roof” is 100 donors who pay a “small” sum of money every month into an account to finance rent.
For example, if you pay 5 euros per month, that makes 60 euros for the year. As the SCDL association is recognized as “of public utility”, you will be tax-exempt at 75%. In the end, your participation will only cost you 15 euros for the year.
Donations can be monthly or one-time (one-time donation).
